Herbert Wilhelm Weige Jr. was born on December 11, 1948, in Alvin, Texas to hard working parents, Alma and Herbert Weige Sr. Handsome and hard-working from a young age, Herbert grew into a loving husband, active grandfather and devoted family man during his 77 years of life.
Having grown up in Sante Fe, Texas, Herbert received his education from Sante Fe High School. Following in his father’s footsteps, Herbert began working on rice farms at a young age. This led to him eventually owning and successfully managing his own rice and sorghum farm until his retirement. Herbert loved his church, Katy Christian Fellowship, dutifully serving as an usher. He also kept his mind sharp by being an avid reader of any type of scientific, historical or mechanical article that crossed his path.
Known as Dutch since his early childhood, Herbert had a love and a knack for tinkering on things. Showing his love for others, Herbert thoroughly enjoyed sharing a good meal and good stories with good family and good friends. Sort of like his favorite color, John Deere Green, he had a humble nature with a willingness to serve. He was also known for trying to lighten the mood with his self-deprecating humor.
Herbert was preceded in death by parents, Alma and Herbert Weige Sr. and his first wife Patricia Kemper Weige (1980-1994).
He is survived by Carolyn Hatton Weige, his loving wife since 1996, his sisters, Mary Butler and Catherine Uzzel, along with his daughters: Sharon Black, her husband Brad along with their children Joshua, Rebekah, and Kaleb; Stephanie Hill, her husband Don along with their children, Corinne and Caroline; Amanda Riese, her husband Leigh and their children Anna, Philip, Jude, Levi, Elisa and Gloria, along with his nephew Glenn Thompson and his wife Andrea.
