Hortensia Hartt

Tensia Hartt, 75, passed away September 25, 2026 at her home in Katy, Texas where she lived for 28 years. She was a wonderful mother to her daughter Jackie Farrera of Katy and her son Chris Hartt of Katy. Her greatest passion in recent years was focused on her four grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to show them her love and promote their success. Tensia was an avid and competitive tennis player, playing at Westside and in USTA leagues where she developed many friendships. In recent years she traveled and enjoyed the company of her fiancé, Tim Work, who lovingly cared for her through her illness and in hospice, with the devoted support of her daughter Jackie.

Tensia moved from Ensenada, BC, Mexico to Los Angeles in 1967 where she earned a degree in Information Systems. She worked at IBM and then Exxon, where she met and married Mike Hartt. Mike’s career with Exxon took them to Egypt, Indonesia, Thailand, and Malaysia before the family moved to Houston, Texas in 1996. Tensia was preceded in death by Mike Hartt in 1998.

Tensia was born February 11, 1951 in Ensenada, BC, Mexico to Juan Arellano and Patrocinio Serrano. She was preceded in death by brothers Rodolfo Arellano of Ensenada, BC, and Pedro Arellano of Anaheim, CA. She is survived by sisters Maria Porter of Riverside, CA, Eloisa Salas of Los Angeles, CA, Margarita Arellano of Ensenada, BC, Martha Arellano de Vargas of Ensenada, BC, Trinidad Rios-Marin of Los Angeles, CA, Jenny Laird of Ensenada, BC, Leticia Arellano de Gomez of Ensenada, BC, and brother Rogelio Arellano of Ensenada, BC.
