In November of 2018 we had the pleasure of meeting Lina, She has  left us with an everlasting impression of her beautiful  smile and her resilience to overcome any obstacles which may have come her way. Your beautiful Angel now soars in the Heavens Above, Soar Beautiful Angel, Soar

Lina, sweet girl, I have tried all week to find the words and honestly wrap my mind around the news that I got Saturday. I am so glad I had the opportunity of teaching Lina at Tanglewood. One thing I'll never forget about  Lina is how fearless and brave she was everyday! I, secretly, wanted to be so cautious and protective with Lina, but she had a way of showing you that she was just fine. I loved that about her. The way she sang and danced along to the Just Dance videos we would play in class on our fun days showed that she enjoyed life. Her ability to conquer the roughest of situations showed that she was strong and resilient.  Lina could lighten up any space. I will not forget that smile. I'm sitting here smiling as I write this because I can picture her smiling right now. I laugh at the time we practiced reciting our speeches for a presentation for the school and parents and Lina could not stop laughing because she was so shy and nervous about saying her speech in front of people. Oh, and those bear hugs! For someone as small as she was, she had a way of wrapping her arms around you and squeezing all the love out of her and into you! One of the most beautiful children I've been able to teach! I love you, Lina! 

Lina-
My beautiful niece, you are the most amazing person I have ever known.  I told you at Christmas that you were the bravest and strongest person I have ever met and it's that strength that is getting me through this without you. I have that bear you gave me sitting by my nightstand so I know you are always with me. I cherish the portrait you painted of you, me and your Tio Bryan that you made one summer at camp and it sits framed on a shelf in my office.  I am going to miss your anaconda squeezes, your laugh, your smile, your random phone calls asking "whatchu dooooing?", the millions of snapchats, your creativity, calling each other drama queen, quoting/singing bits from Nacho Libre, you telling your Tio Bryan that he needs to cut his beard, calling me out for burning the carpet with and iron at Grandma and Babe's house, making you laugh in any way at all... just... I'm going to miss everything about you. You always have and always will have a huge piece of my heart. It has been the greatest honor and privilege to be your aunt.

I can remember you sitting with Ashton at lunchtime when I would come visit him at school like it was yesterday.  You’ve been his one true constant friend; and he is going to miss you so much.  While driving home from school for spring break in the 5th grade Ashton was talking on and on about seeing you and how much he loved you. So I asked him why do you love her so much, he told me “I don’t know mom but when I think about her it just makes my heart happy and I think she’s beautiful”

Oh Sweet Lina.... where do we begin? We fell in love with you from the moment we first met you. Your laugh, your beautiful smile, your rib breaking hugs made each moment with you a joy.  Thank you for teaching us how easy it is to love someone.   You were so many things. 
1. You were an artist! You were always were so meticulous when we worked on crafts at the house. You would sit there for hours to make sure your piece was exactly how you envisioned it. 
2. You were a performer! You and Ellen would sing and dance the night away if we would let you. I know all the Descendant songs thanks to you! 
3.  You were a fashionista! From American Doll dress-up to styling your own outfits, you always had a flare for style. Plain was not in your vocabulary and you loved color and accessories. 
4. You were a clown! Not a circus clown, but more like a class clown. You always had a way of making everyone in a room laugh. 
5. You were compassionate! You had such a keen sense of knowing when someone needed just a bit more love.  I loved our snuggles and those sweet moments with you. You truly were aware of all the emotions around you. 
6. You were playful! Your spirit... oh your spirit! We can't even begin to tell you how much we will miss that in our lives. Ellen still swears Santa tapped on her window, but her parents are 99.9% sure it was you that Christmas Eve. You always like a good prank or joke on someone (I think you get that from grandpa). 
7. You were a friend! I watched you and Ellen do so many things and listened to so many giggly girl conversations between the two of you.  I am so glad you were Ellen's friend. 
8. You were an explorer! You and Ellen would spend hours outside in our yard "fairy hunting"! I would always laugh when I came across a makeshift chair or table for all the fairies that lived in our yard. 
9. You were a child of God. Even if we will never see you again in this world, I rest knowing God has made you whole again. You will forever be in our hearts.

To our baby Lina,
We love and miss you so much. When you left, you took a piece of our hearts with you. We thank God for single-handedly choosing you to come into our lives.  We will always be grateful to him for sharing this courageous, determined, beautiful soul with us. You've always stood so tall with confidence, enthusiasm and a lot of personality. When you were confronted with any challenge, you tackled it head-on with perseverance. You've instilled in us to live a life of compassion, strength and unconditional love. You've taught us to enjoy life no matter the situation, and to do it with a smile and lots of laughter. We will cherish this always and forever. We will consistently look back on the memories that you shared with us, and count ourselves so fortunate to have been blessed with an angelic soul like you. We love you baby Lina. Lina was always a beautiful soul to have around. From her bear hugs, to her beautiful singing while we drove together as a family. My time with her may have been short, but every moment of it was wonderful. Lina never stopped living life to the fullest and even now is probably partying and dancing like she did the day after Thanksgiving after showing me Just Dance. She will be missed, but we will see her again.

I’m happy we were friends since we were little kids and until forever. I always had fun watching movies and eating pizza with you, especially Lion King. I will miss all of our FaceTime talks and all of the fun we had together. Keep singing!

Ilynah this is Grandpa, yes I know you know who "Babe" is but not everybody does so I had to throw that out there. There is not enough words in our vocabulary to express what you mean to me.

As a parent we love our children to no end, as a grandparent that love is beyond words. I cannot take credit for the following words but they express exactly what I feel.

It's been difficult for me to put into the words the sense of loss I have been feeling since I got the news.  It still seems like a bad dream. But in my mind I do know that you are by God's side and that he has gained a beautiful, special angel.
I have always admired the way that you have been so brave in handling all of the obstacles that life has thrown your way in the short time you were here.  You exhibited such strength and grace through all the hardships.  And you still managed to have that beautiful smile which I will miss, along with those bear hugs you were fond of giving.  Your Tio Terry and Tia Ester will love you and miss you always.  You left us on his 74th birthday so we will always remember to honor you on that day and always.

I cannot believe you are not here with us. It doesn't seem real. Your charisma, spunk, and laughter always lit up the classroom. Being your teacher was a great joy. I learned so much from you. Your possessed such a caring and gentle spirit and cared about some many people and so many things. Thank you for making this world a more exciting place. Your spirit and eternal beauty will live on.

I've been sitting here thinking of the right words on how to express how special you are and how much you mean to us. It's been so easy to love you. You are so carefree, so loving, so beautiful inside and out. It's hard mama...to find the words & accept. My heart is broken and it aches for you , your mom and grandma. I adore you little one. Seeing you so happy at the river made my birthday so much better . You loved the river so much and just wanted to hear Michael Jackson thriller while floating in the river . I have so many countless memories that I’m so thankful for including our crazy filter pictures lol . Thank you Babygirl for being a amazing cousin to my babies . They loved being around you . They are taking this hard but knowing you are now their Angel makes it a little easier. You can always visit in our dreams .  Don’t worry about mom , dad , grandma or pops we will take care of them for you . We love you Babygirl! 

To my "FEARLESS" sweet Lina,

I love you so much, more than words can say. I thank God for blessing me with a daughter as special as you. You have brought so much happiness and laughter to my life. Seeing you grow from a teen to a beautiful young lady has been an honor.

You are certainly the strongest person I have ever come across. My heart hurts and is broken. I will miss you so much.

My favorite memory with Lina is when she had her 15. I remember seeing how happy she was and to be there and see the young lady she has turned into. She dancing around and having a blast. She look so perfect, couldn’t asked for a better day for her and how she looked. I will forever love you miss Lina.

Always with that beautiful smile and showing off those beautiful cheer bones . Thank you for being such a great cousin the kids loved being around you and love taking crazy pictures with you that now they get to cherish. Baby girl, it was our honor to be a part of your life. We thank God that he chose us as your loving family. We’re extremely heartbroken 💔 that you’re no longer with us, but we know without a doubt that you’ve gained your Angel wings and were received in heaven with open arms. You’ve joined Grandma Nellie and we find comfort that you’re both our angels watching over us till the day we meet again.  We will forever carry with us all the memories we shared together, thank you for always being so loving, funny, and such a sweet girl. My dear beautiful granddaughter, Ilynah. I don’t have words to tell you how I hurt for you. I understand but my heart is not ready to understand that I won’t see you every day. I am happy you are with God and know he will love and care for you better than anyone, still I am trying to  understand so I am asking Gods help  with this. I also want to thank you for the beautiful years we shared with love and laughter.  Love forever your Grandma.

Lina- I love you with all my heart and soul. Thank you for always loving me so unconditionally. Thank you for sometimes being so strong that you wiped my tears away.  But most importantly, thank you for those unexpected kisses and rib crushing/ back breaking hugs.  Thank you for exceeding every expectation I've ever had of having a child.  Thank you for just being you.  Until we meet again,  my sweet precious girl.  

I don't know how to go on without you because you are my whole world.  Thank you for being the most precious, loving, adventurous, funniest and bravest girl I know.  I am so proud of you and will adore you & miss you all the days of my life and beyond.  I take some comfort in knowing you are my guiding light, the angelic sunshine in my life.  Here is an excerpt of the speech I wrote for my sweet girl's 16th birthday:
...My Dearest Lina: If I could give you one thing in life, I would give you the ability to see yourself through my eyes. Only then would you see how very special you are to me and to everyone in this room. You are more than a conqueror, more than any lost time and more than any adversity you may face. Lina, as we come together to celebrate your 16th birthday I want to instill in your heart that you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you. 
Christ is in you. Today my heart is so full of love and gratitude. Today my mind feels enlightened and my love feels strengthened. Today more than normal, I smile at the little things and cherish each moment of happiness. As we celebrate you turning 16, I am so thankful all the way down to my bones because when doctors said No, God said YES. Today, I realize that you won’t be a little girl forever.  Today I can actually see little glimpses of you as a vivacious, confident young woman and not just my little curious, energetic mini-me with babycurls.   Lina, you are the light I never knew I always needed.   You were my first introduction into the true meaning of selfless, unconditional love. You unknowingly challenged me to be better, encouraged me to fight harder and at times annoyingly forced me to become a more patient human being. Your life has given me breath in so many ways. You have taught me the importance of self-reflection and reminded me that how I see myself will influence how you see yourself. I am so beyond aware and thankful for the gift as my thought of you influences my every decision....
