Sister Mack was born on July 20, 1938, to Zanderiah Brown and Enoch John McKenzie in the district of Woodside, Clarendon, Jamaica. Sister Mack received very little formal education and learned home economics and sewing. She worked and did many odd jobs to support her family. She was always an independent woman and would work in any capacity in Jamaica to raise her children. She worked as a housekeeper and mother to The Scott Family, Citrus Fruit Company, and Infirmary in Clarendon, Jamaica for several years. Mother McKenzie (Sister Mack) as she was called took care of her family and cared for other families as a home maker and caregiver for most of her adult life. Iris lived a single life all her years and was happy to be married to the Lord. She has nine adult children: Mertell, Jeff, Larry, Ray, Karel, Annette, Rose, Orville, and Suzette. When Sister Mack had her children, she dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Sister Mack excelled at propping up children, grands, great-grands, nieces, and nephews of her family. She made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Sister Mack was passionate about Christ and very giving of everyone. She had a beautiful smile, was rough around the edges but as sweet as she could be. When she loved you, she loved you!!
Sister Mack enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, music, food, spending time with people, and cooking. She was a great cook and always fed everyone in her community while filling her home with good food, warmth, and kindness. We will miss her greatly. Sister Mack is survived by Mertell, Larry, Jeff, Ray, Karel, Annette, Rose, Orville, Suzette, younger sister Jean and brother Bobby, grandchildren, great grand, great-great grand, nieces, nephews, adopted families, wonderful friends and church family in Jamaica, New York, and Florida and Texas.
