Jack was born in Avenal, CA on May 20, 1956. He moved to Friendswood, TX in the early 1970’s before joining the U.S. Navy where he served as an Airman. He served our country from 1974-1980 and was honorably discharged with numerous medals and accolades. Jack was a very proud Veteran. He was currently employed with Penhall Company as an operator for highway maintenance projects.
He served as a Committeeman for the Pasadena Rodeo for several years, and he was involved with the VFW as well. You could always find Jack cooking up way too much food! Cooking was one of his many passions, and he usually prepared enough for a small army. He loved his Houston Astros, playing his harmonica, and mouth harp. In his younger years, Jack was an avid dart player and played and won in many tournaments. He was also once in a bowling league in Beaumont, TX. He enjoyed just sitting and listening to music of all genres, and then quizzing you about the artist or band. He loved to play Farkle and Scrabble, but boy was he a sore loser. Jan used to have to add points to his scores so he could “win” every once in a while. He was known by most to be EXTREMELY organized. Like EXTREMELY organized! He had a cord for everything, and gadgets galore, even his gadgets had gadgets. And he could tie just about any knot. And you can bet that he was always on time! And when he wasn’t away with work, he enjoyed being home with Jan, and spending as much time as he could with his family.
Jack leaves behind his loving (and very patient) wife, Jan of 44 years. Sons, Sean Hagans and fiance Corrine of Houston, TX; Daniel Hagans and wife Dana of Joplin, MO and daughter; Sarah Emmerson and husband Tyler of Katy, TX. His Mother in Law; Davina Owen whom he lovingly referred to as “Mom”, of Friendswood, TX, his sisters Jacalyn Hagans and husband Pete of California; and Carole Laydon of Nevada and brother Shawn Greene of California.
He also leaves behind his ‘grandbabies”; Kora, Alyssa, Cooper, Joshua, Owen, Maren, Noah, Callee, Austin, Dylan, Evan, Peyton, Wyatt, and Hunter. And a host of cousins, family, and great friends. He also leaves behind his beloved dog; “Gunny”.
