Jack Sherrod

Jack was born on November 4, 1954, in Jacinto City, Texas.

Jack is survived by his children, Richard and Dawn Fuller; Russell and Christy Fuller; James and Leigh Sherrod; Jebediah and Crystal Sherrod; and Jeni and Jeff Honey. He is also survived by his siblings, Vance, Brenda, and Roger Sherrod, as well as his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Kathleen Louise Sherrod; his father, Robert Eugene Sherrod; his mother, Virginia Arbelene Eddy Sherrod Turner; his sister, Tina Sherrod Wagner; and his faithful dog, Sadie.

Jack was a complicated yet deeply loving man. Despite a difficult upbringing, he grew into a compassionate man who, much like his wife, was selfless, stubborn, and caring. Coming from a large family himself, Jack helped care for and raise six children, four of whom were not biologically his own. He welcomed them with open arms, loved them wholeheartedly, and treated each of them as his own.

Jack was strict, honest to a fault, and always true to his word. He believed that a person's word mattered and worked to instill those values in each of his children.

Jack was passionate about his wife, Kathie; his dog, Sadie; hunting; and the outdoors. He also loved music and playing the guitar. His favorite was his Ovation guitar, which he enjoyed playing for his children. Jack appreciated classic, old-school humor and was known for his quick wit and endless sarcasm. As he often said, "Sarcasm is just another free service I provide."

Jack's fight for survival was a long one. Many said he was as stubborn as an ox, even in the end. In his final hours, Jack was surrounded by those who loved him and passed peacefully at home.

Jack was a man of many titles: husband, brother, father, grandpa, Pops, Old Man, and Poppie. No matter what he was called, he filled each role with love, strength, and guidance. To his family, he was a father figure in every sense of the word.

He will be deeply loved, forever missed, and always remembered.
