James Shields Moran III

James S. Moran III, loving son, brother, husband, and father, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019, at Oakmont Nursing Home in Katy, TX. He was born on March 30th, 1953 in Norwich, CT to loving parents James Shields and Mary Elizabeth (Yerrington) Moran and grew up in Norwich and then Northford, CT with three sisters and two brothers.

He was a graduate of North Branford high school where he was a star athlete in baseball, basketball, and soccer. In 2014 he was inducted into the North Branford High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his outstanding achievements. He graduated from Fairfield University in 1975 and shortly after moved to Texas where he met his wife Kathleen Marie (Host) Moran. They have one son, Kevin Russell Moran.

Jim worked for many years in the Houston and Austin area as an IT specialist. His favorite activities were volunteering with his family, both coaching his son in sports and assisting with his wife’s charity work, taking long walks with Kathy, and viewing newly built and resale open houses around Texas.

Besides his wife and son, he is survived by sisters Mary Beth (Robert) Applegate of Wallingford, CT, Karen (Peter) Avery of Windsor, CT, Patricia Moran (Anthony Marino) of Westbrook, CT, and brothers Joseph (Rebecca) Moran of Farmington, CT and Christopher (Kim) Moran of Northford, CT along with many nieces and nephews. His family will be receiving relatives and friends for a memorial service on Saturday, June 8th, during the hours of 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, TX, 77494.

Biography

James S. Moran III, loving son, brother, husband, and father, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 4th, 2019, at Oakmont Nursing Home in Katy, TX.
