Jennifer Brandy Hughes

September 20, 1973May 6, 2019

Jennifer Brandy Hughes was born on September 20, 1973 to Martin S and Mary Diane Phillips, in Yuma Arizona and is the baby sister of their first daughter Michelle. Jennifer’s fighting spirit and selfless nature could be seen early on. She faced health issues that progressed, at times, to a point that lesser souls may have viewed as a hinderance. She refused to allow this to slow her down, she instead, showed how truly selfless she was always being there for those who needed her, and focused on what she did have, rather than what she didn’t or couldn’t have. She later married Phillip, her husband of over 20 years and the two of them only made each other stronger, blurring the line where one ended and the other began. Over the years, Jennifer’s health became such that she required a double lung transplant, this too she faced with the same optimism and faith that she always had. The transplant blessed Jennifer with the gift of life, precious time that she wasted not one bit of. She made the most of it, enjoying every moment she had, laughing and bringing smiles to those who knew her. Years later, she once again reached a point she would require another transplant. Jennifer did not hesitate, knowing the risks, the possibilities, the tough road this could bring her, she was smiling as they led her off to surgery telling her family “let’s do this, be back in a little while, love you...”. That was the mind set she left with. Ready as always to face it, fight and go on. Proving once more how she redefined fear, as F.E.A.R... Face Everything And Rise.. Complications from the surgery however, proved to be to much. She passed on May 6, 2019 and after years of fighting and overcoming, she may now rest and find peace. Her spirit and legacy will live on in her children, Allen and Christopher, and in the hearts and minds of everyone she interacted with as well as those she has touched but never met.
