Jerry Bailey, 77, passed away on June 29, 2026. Born on August 29, 1948, in McAllen, Jerry began life in the Valley and later made his home in South Houston. He lived with his older sister, Pam, and distinguished himself both in the classroom and on the field, excelling in athletics and academics and playing football. He attended South Houston High School and Rice University, where he earned a business degree.
Jerry built his working life as a business owner, approaching his responsibilities with steady purpose and pride in what he created.
Away from work, Jerry found joy in simple pleasures and familiar pastimes—fishing, playing guitar, football, and bowling. He especially loved watching football, a favorite ritual that brought him comfort and enjoyment through the years.
Jerry will be remembered for his care for animals and for the warmth he brought to others through his barbecue skills. He loved his pets—LT, TIP, Tank, Snoop, Mis Kitter, and Carl—and his affection for them reflected a generous spirit and a quietly steadfast heart.
Jerry was preceded in death by Thelma Veula Horne, mother, and Angie Gerald Bailey, father. He is survived by Ryne Bailey, son; Cameron Bailey, son; Annabelle Bailey, granddaughter; Abigail Wilder, granddaughter; and Jaxton Bailey, grandson.
Visitation will be held at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, KATY, TX 77494, US, on August 7, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow at Katy Funeral Home on August 7, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
