Johnny Sholl, a bright light who brought immeasurable joy in his short time, left this world far too soon. Born with a fearless spirit and an adventurous heart, Johnny grew up in Katy, Texas, where every day was an exploration and every moment an opportunity for laughter and love.
Though only 2½ years old, Johnny had a presence that touched everyone who knew him. He had a captivating smile, enchanting eyes, and a laugh so pure that it could melt even the toughest heart. He was never introduced to anger or aggression—only to love, giggles, and an endless sense of wonder.
Johnny’s days were filled with bubbles, confetti, coloring, and joyful trips to the park. He loved swimming—especially going down the slide at the pool—eating ice cream and popsicles and running through sprinklers with uncontainable delight. A collector of tiny rocks and a skilled hider of them, Johnny found magic in the smallest of things.
He adored playing games like Hide and Seek, Basketball, Freeze Dance, Tunnel Crawl, Little Piggies, and Telephone. His imagination was vivid; he could become a cowboy in front of the mirror or Blippi with just a smile and a twinkle in his eye. He especially loved dancing, playing with his vehicles, and ending the day by taking Daddy by the hand—along with his three favorite pillows—to lay in bed while Mommy read to him.
One of his sweetest habits was pulling faces close just to get more kisses. He shared the most tender moments rubbing noses and touching foreheads with Mommy and Daddy. His favorite color was orange, and his constant companion was Max, the family Chihuahua.
Johnny is best remembered for his adorable laugh and his remarkable ability to make everyone around him feel special. Though he never attended school, held a job, or earned awards, his life was a masterpiece of joy, connection, and unconditional love.
Johnny was preceded in death by his grandfather, Alfonso Valdez Longoria.
He is survived by his loving parents, Mayra Sholl and John Sholl Jr.; his grandparents, Maria Longoria, Kelly and Charles Szelestey, and John Sholl Sr.; his aunts and uncles, Alfonso and Claudia Longoria, Wesley and Brenda Holloway, Delia Longoria, Chris Sholl and Chona, Brian Sholl and Aspen; and many cousins who will carry his memory in their hearts forever.
Though Johnny’s time with us was brief, his impact was boundless. His spirit will forever be a part of every bubble blown, every game of hide and seek played, and every moment of pure, unfiltered joy.
