

He graduated from Mary High School in 1948. He graduated from Lane College with a BS degree, and attended University of Michigan receiving his Masters. He also served in the United States Army.
He was microbiologist with the St. Louis health department from 1956-1966. John then moved to Michigan where he worked for the Department of Public Health. His time there was spent doing research on Leukemia, developing a cold adapted virus for the production of the influenza vaccine. He was an inspector for hospitals and independent laboratories for licensing in the State of Michigan. His career ended as a Deputy Bureau Chief for Administration of Laboratory and Epidemiological Services, in 1992.
John was married to the love of his life Jeanine on December 27, 1953 ,they were together until she passed away in 2003. They had many beautiful years together, in 1958 they had their only child Victoria Lynn Trotter.
In 2005, John relocated to Houston, TX and became a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. There he serves on various committees including Staff Parish and Mass Choir.
John was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He leaves to cherish his memories his daughter; Victoria Lynn Trotter-Washington and son-in-law Tony Alonzo Washington, a host of family and friends.
