Mr. Jorge Carmona, 68, of Maracaibo, Venezuela, passed away on Tuesday March 30, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after a valiant battle with cancer. Jorge was born March 2, 1953 in La Villa del Rosario, Venezuela to Neptalí Carmona and Mística Flor Urdaneta. He studied Petroleum Engineering at La Universidad del Zulia (LUZ), where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1978. He then obtained a master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma in 1994. Jorge had an impressive career of over 45 years. He retired from his last role in Saudi Aramco after 15 years of service. Jorge was a selfless family man who was happiest when spending time with his wife and daughters, his siblings and extended family. Jorge was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jairo Luis Carmona Urdaneta. He leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Maria Machado de Carmona; daughters Ana Carmona, Diana Carmona, and Sara Carmona; grandchildren Isabella and Emma Rincón; and a host of siblings, family, and friends. Jorge was an honorable husband, father, mentor, and friend, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His family and friends describe him as driven, kind and generous. He was a captivating storyteller with an infectious laugh. The Carmona family would like to give a special thanks to John Hopkins Hospital and Vantage Hospice staff who helped his family take care of him in his final days of life. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, April 16th at 10:30 am in the chapel of St. John Vianney Catholic Church at 625 Nottingham Oaks Trail, Houston, TX 77079, Following the funeral mass will be a reception at 12:30 PM at1959 Portsmouth St. Houston, TX. 77098.
