Julee was born August 17, 1956, to Lillie Ann (Larson) and Paul A. Hybertson, in Sioux Falls, SD. She grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1974. Julee attended South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in Rapid City, SD, where she met her husband, Dale A. Farmen. They were married in May 1978. Julee worked for The Carter Mining Company (an Exxon Affiliated Operating Company) in Gillette, WY until 1986, when she elected to focus her efforts on raising their children while Dale continued his career with Exxon.
Son, Matthew, was born in 1981 and daughter, Amalia (Molly), in 1983. Julee loved children, worked hard, and excelled at raising a family. In 1988, the family moved to Katy when Dale was transferred to a new assignment in Houston. Julee continued to concentrate on bringing up their children and spent her free time volunteering in Matt and Molly’s elementary schools. She also became active in volunteer work with St.Peter’s United Methodist Church, Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts.
In 1990, the family relocated to Springfield, IL with Dale’s next assignment with Exxon. Their family expanded with the birth of Jacob, in 1993. Julee remained very active in service to their children’s schools, as well as with First United Methodist Springfield and Boy and Girl Scout programs.
In 1997, the family relocated back to Katy with another job transfer, and the Farmen family settled in Cinco Ranch. In addition to raising the children, Julee again spent her free time volunteering in their children’s respective schools, and was involved in several activities, including Houston Aeros Hockey Travel Teams, Taylor High School Ice Hockey, Taylor High School Pacesetters, Williams Elementary, Beck Junior High, Cinco Ranch High School Athletic Booster Club, as well as Cinco Football and Baseball Programs and Katy Stallion Baseball Competitive Baseball program. She loved spending time helping youth excel. Julee was also very involved in a number of activities, including Lay Leadership Committees, at St. Peters United Methodist Church.
The center of her life revolved around her love of Christ and caring for family. She showered her family with love, raised some wonderful children, and was extremely proud of them. She was always there for her extended family and touched the lives of everyone she met. She enjoyed cooking and baking, whether for family, friends, pot lucks, or as Camp Cook for United Methodist Army Youth Mission Camps.
Julee loved to read, often consuming several books each week. She spent countless hours reading with Matt, Molly & Jake in the early part of their lives. She also enjoyed her time with a couple of book clubs she participated in with dear friends. She devoted a lot of time and energy to staying involved with family back in the Northern Tier states. Hard fought games of Scrabble were always on tap and enjoyed immensely when she spent time with her mother and three sisters.
Just after Christmas, Julee was diagnosed with late stage cancer that had metastasized extensively and aggressively.
Julee was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Ann and Paul, as well as son Matthew. She is survived by her husband, Dale, daughter Molly, son Jacob and and his fiancée Maddie Van Pelt, brother Joel Hybertson and wife Kathy of Sioux Falls, SD; sister Mary and husband Tom Frederick of Sioux Falls, SD; sister Susan Dickerson of Billings, MT; and sister Karen Ellman of Minnetonka, MN.
