Larry was born on March 7, 1933, in Dallas, Texas to Manuel and Martha Dickard Bobbitt. Larry began working at an early age sweeping the floors of his father’s barber shop and hair salon and throwing the newspaper. He then spent weekends helping with the horses and cattle on his father’s property. Larry enjoyed football and played in high school. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950 and went on to attend North Texas State in Denton and Draughon’s Business College. Larry and Dot purchased a second home on Galveston Bay, in San Leon, where the family could enjoy time together. They had also invested in the ownership of several greyhounds and enjoyed the dog races every weekend.
Larry and Dot moved to Weston Lakes in 2000 to fully enjoy retirement. Larry enjoyed many hobbies in his life, including playing golf, bowling, duck hunting with friend and neighbor Bill Parker, and woodworking. Larry was President of the SMGA and continued to be active with the group. He and Dot were members of the Fulshear United Methodist Church where Larry was a Trustee.
Following Dot’s death in 2014, Larry later married Janice Oliver. Since then, they have enjoyed traveling, companionship, and support for each other. Larry and Janice joined Second Baptist Church FM1463 campus where Larry was baptized. They were also members of Cross Talk Bible Study class.
