

Born and raised in Gary, Indiana, Leon graduated from Froebel High School in 1965. Shortly after high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Leon went on to have a long and fulfilling career, retiring as a Foreman from the United States Railroad.
Leon was well known for his joyful spirit, infectious laugh, and his ability to bring people together with his good humor and authenticity. A devoted fan of both the New England Patriots and the Houston Texans, he also had a love for DJing 70s and 80s music. In his earlier years, he was skilled at sewing, a talent he took pride in.
Family was at the heart of Leons’s life. He cherished every moment spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His smile, warmth, and friendship will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He also shared a special bond with his beloved cockatiel, Isabella, who had belonged to his mother.
Leon is preceded in death by his father, Odell Davis Sr., his mother, Coaless Allen, as well as several close family members including his uncle, William Stewart, and his wife, Frederica; his aunts, Alice McCants and her husband Ned, Aunt Tomasina Mack, Aunt JoAnn Stewart; uncles Wilbur White and Alvin Paige, and his cousin Marlo McCants, niece Kelly Davis, and other loved ones.
Leon is survived by his son Leon and his wife Zoua; his daughter Tanya and her husband Victor; his daughter Coaless; his grandchildren Leon III, Blake, Bryce, Ariel, Hattie, Lillybelle, and Jai; and his great-grandchildren Mia, Blake Jr., Nevaeh, and Bryson. He is also survived by his brother Odell Jr. and his wife Darlene, nieces and nephews Anthony, Brenda, Brian, Gregory, Kimberly, and Tracey. Additionally, he is survived by his aunts Ruth Paige, Thelma White, uncles Clyde Stewart, Melvin Stewart, Arbinson Stewart and his wife Donna, and the many cousins in the Stewart and Wheatley families, who were like siblings to him. Leon also leaves behind close friends Nicey and Jonathan Muse, their children Andrew, Isaiah, and Leah, along with other cherished friends who were like family to him. He deeply loved each and every one of them.
Leon’s smile, humor, and friendship will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him. He will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
A visitation for Leon will be held Monday, December 2, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM with a Funeral Service to follow, at Katy Funeral Home. A burial will occur following Funeral Service at 12:45 PM to 1:00 PM at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
