Lindsay Evan Clark passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 78. He was born on March 12, 1947, in Nambour, Australia, to James Neville Clark and Elva Leona Clark. Lindsay was one of five children and was raised in a close-knit family alongside his siblings Jeffery Clark, Cicely Sutton, Alcia Jordon, and Claudia Condon.
Lindsay’s professional journey began in Nambour, where he trained and worked as a licensed Ford mechanic. Though skilled in his trade, his adventurous spirit soon led him down a new path. When he was offered a position as a roughneck on the Southern Cross for Santa Fe, he took the opportunity without hesitation. It was there that Lindsay discovered his passion for the oil industry, a passion that would define the rest of his life.
After gaining valuable experience, Lindsay joined Reading and Bates in Singapore and worked on the Charley Graves. This marked the beginning of a remarkable international career that spanned more than ten countries. At times, his family traveled with him, making memories across the globe. Eventually, Lindsay and his family put down roots in Houston, Texas, where his career continued to thrive. Known for his work ethic, leadership, and practical problem-solving, Lindsay earned the trust and admiration of everyone he worked with.
Throughout his career, he played a critical role in the construction of more than twenty oil rigs and drillships worldwide. Among his many accomplishments, he was especially proud of his work on the Deepwater Horizon for Transocean and the Can Do drillship, his final major project, completed at the Keppel Shipyard in Singapore. For Lindsay, work was never just a job. It was an adventure filled with friendships, challenges, and unforgettable stories.
Lindsay is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Glenda May Clark. He was a devoted father to Jodie Griffin and her husband Wes, Tracy McKinney and her husband Brian, and Kylie Adamson and her husband Luke. He was a proud grandfather to Madison, Samantha, Braden, Lindsay, and Ophelia. Lindsay was preceded in death by his parents, James Neville Clark and Elva Leona Clark, his brother Jeffery Clark, and his in-laws Fredrick and Alma Hambrecht.
Though Lindsay’s work was central to his life, he cherished his family above all else. In his later years, he took great joy in spending time with his children and grandchildren, always offering advice and guidance as they built their own futures. His wisdom, presence, and stories will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
