Lori Lee Vaughan
January 4, 1961 – June 20, 2020
The loving soul of Lori L. Vaughan, 59, of Richmond, Texas entered into eternal rest on June 20, 2020.
Lori was born in Gloversville, NY on January 4, 1961, the daughter of Beverly Colby-Lydia and Peter Carl Palmateer. Lori, the adopted daughter of Ronald Ray Decker, attended both Gloversville and Mayfield schools. She went on to become a successful, licensed hair stylist, a career she loved and continued for many years. Years later, Lori continued her education becoming a certified dental assistant working in the Houston area. Lori found an outlet for her amazing creativity in designing and baking custom cakes with her daughters.
Lori was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an extremely loving person to her extended family and friends. Animals held a special place for Lori and she was known to foster when the opportunity presented itself. Lori loved to go ice-skating, dancing, and especially enjoyed visiting her family and friends in upstate New York. New York was always special to Lori and she often spoke of moving back home. Lori is survived by her children; Ceja Decker, Kenneth (Rachel) Sherman and Brittany (Anthony) Montes and her 7 grandchildren; Alyssa, Micajah, Olivia, Jocelyn, Preston, Benjamin and Joseph. She is also survived by her partner, “Exie” Michael Vaughan and her 6 siblings; Julia Brockhum, Randall Decker, William (Christine) Decker, Connie Palmateer, Peter (Missy) Palmateer, Jeff Palmateer and several nieces and nephews and their children.
Lori was predeceased by her parents, siblings, Paul and Paula Palmateer and her nephew, Jeremy VanNostrand.
At Lori’s request, she will be cremated and returned home to eternal rest beside her mother. A graveside service and celebration of life will be held at a later date.
