Magno was born January 7, 1941 in Pampanga, Philippines to Santiago and Severa Austria. After graduating from Holy Cross Academy High School, he continued his education at the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy where he earned his Marine Engineer degree. His civil service as a merchant seaman afforded him a unique opportunity to travel the world and after many years at sea, he settled in The United States in 1968 when he married his wife, Juliana.
Magno was a member of St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Church in Katy, TX for 26 years and was a current member of Epiphany Catholic Church at his passing. He worked as an electronics technician at Metrix Instruments of Houston, TX for 23 years where he arrived 30 minutes early every day. He was a valued member of the Metrix team and deeply missed after his retirement in 2005. Magno loved to fish, golf, garden and ride his bike around his neighborhood, but his greatest joy in life was time spent with his family. He loved to be in the kitchen cooking simple meals and could often be heard saying “Come…eat!” His most requested food from his grandchildren was his special hamburger patties that contained a very distinct ingredient: love.
