Maria Alicia Rodriguez was born on November 23, 1943 in Sinton, Texas to Guadalupe Escamilla DeLeon and Pablo DeLeon. She passed away on May 27, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones after a brief illness.
Maria was a vibrant woman all her life. She had a passion for creating beautiful things, from sewing handmade clothing for her children when they were young to creating stunning flower arrangements for all the family weddings, quinceañeras, and many other events she attended over the years. Her biggest passion though, was her family. Maria was the second oldest of her 10 siblings, and a deep familia loyalty was ingrained in her from a very young age. When she married her husband of 54 years, Tomas Rodriguez, and left home, she carried those values along with her.
Maria spent the better part of her life as a homemaker. Though she had many jobs through the years, her life's work was devoted to loving and caring for those whom she held dear. She shared that love freely and generously, enriching the lives of those around her. She left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Maria was welcomed into heaven by those who preceded her in death, including her loving parents, her sisters, Amelia DeLeon Tighe and Aida DeLeon Deases, and Tomas Rodriguez, the love and light of her life.
Maria is lovingly survived by her siblings, Juan Arturo DeLeon, Armando DeLeon, Adolfo De Leon, Abel DeLeon, Almarosa DeLeon Elizalde, Anna M. DeLeon Ramos, and Angelica DeLeon, as well as their spouses and families. She is also survived by her four children and their spouses: Tomas Rodriguez Jr. (Virginia), Mario Arnold Rodriguez (Lisa), Terry Rodriguez (Melisa), and Patricia Rodriguez Swift (John).
Maria's legacy continues through her 15 cherished grandchildren: Johnny Garcia(Samantha), Lucas Rodriguez, John David Rodriguez, Roxanne Rodriguez, Zachary Rodriguez, Mario Rodriguez Jr., Aryana Sadler, Téa Rodriguez, Pablo Rodriguez, Terry Rodriguez Jr., Erica Prine-Hardeman (Stuart), Alicia Prine, and Cameron Swift. She was further blessed with twelve treasured great-grandchildren: Erin, Katie, Olivia, Ryan, Maison, Emily, Journey, James, Ezra, Hazel, Roman, and Mikayla. Maria's love, kindness, and devotion to her family will live on through each generation she leaves behind. And as she moves on into the eternal afterlife, she will be blessed with the promise of peace that words cannot fully describe.
' And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds.'
