Mircea (Mark) Doru Zaharie, age 53, of Orăștie, Romania living in Katy Texas passed away on Sunday January 6, 2019. Mark was born February 10, 1965. He passed away in his home.

Mircea was born and raised in Orăștie, in the Hunedoara region, of Romania. Raised by his Mother Sofia E. Zaharie, and his grandmother Sofia Cindea. As a child he was extremely active, causing mischief and always finding new adventures with his buddies. He loved to learn, excelling in his studies, spent time in the kitchen with his grandmother learning how to cook, and took a keen interest in automobiles. Mark also was a sports fanatic, participating in soccer. He came to this country with nothing but the clothes on his back, and $41.50.

Mark was a family man, taking care of both his mother, and grandmother when they were sick. Providing them with care, while maintaining a new family of his own.

Mark enjoyed many things, photography was one of them. He liked to collect memories and immortalize them, leaving hundreds and hundreds of photos of fun times he had. He also enjoyed fishing, and loved to talk. He also prided himself in being a patriot. His love for America was unmatched. I believe he embodied the American Dream, and so did he.

He had an entrepreneurial spirit, and was the go-to handy man. He had a solution for everything, and even when he didn’t, he would pretend to know what he was doing with such confidence that everyone believed it too! He started Villagio Family Dental in 2008, had his own Auto Appraisal business, and had previously worked for Allstate for 13 years.

Another noted trait Mark had was humor. He was always cracking jokes. Always. No matter what situation it was, Mark saw the silver lining. He enjoyed making others laugh and more often than not, making himself laugh. Even when you didn’t understand the jokes, you still would laugh because you could tell he thought they were hilarious. He also enjoyed storytelling. He was wild, in the best way. He always had a new story to tell for anyone who would listen.

Mark is survived by his three children, Andrea Maria, Alexandra Sofia, and Mark Daniel Zaharie.

Mark had the spirit of a warrior, full of passion and strong emotions, he fought a long, and valiant battle. He never complained when he felt bad, he always assured you he was fine. He was full of courage, optimism, and mischief. That is how he would like to be remembered.

Andrea and Alexandra you have been on my mind since I read the obituary in the Katy Times. You may not remember but I taught you piano when you were much younger. My condolences on the loss of your Father. We never think such terrible things can happen but they do and we just keep putting one foot in front of the other until these things become part ofthe tapestry of our lives. We never forget such great love and that it does exist. Your Father loved you very much but some things are beyond control. I am still in the same place if you ever need to talk .

Ole' friend, you should have stayed. I'm missing your calls, man... there were not too many people around I could speak with about Jordanes or Maria's Gimbutas theories...
My heartfelt condolences to all those who loved and appreciated him. I'm feeling sorry for those who haven't; let God Almighty have mercy of them and your tormented soul. Now that you're speaking the language of the Goddess, allow your spirit metamorphose itself in a Guardian Angel for your children, and help them understand and know the truth, because only the Truth will set them free.
You will be missed. You should have stayed...

Fare well, man. See you on the other side. Gelu

I never realized that Mark had medical issues. Putting this aside; I was a co-worker with Mark at Allstate for a number of years until I was transferred to Washington, DC. I remember him for the great sense of humor he had, my favorite thing was when Management made some dumb off the cuff program which was a failure before implementation and Mark walked around the office on his hands. I remember him being very athletic. Despite Mark being 25 or so years younger than myself, he is one of the very few that I have kept in touch with despite moving to Central America when I retired almost thirteen years ago. My most sincere condolences go all out for him to his Family, for his Family was his prime asset he cherished. I realize that death is a part of life, but am even more upset that Mark was shortchanged of his Golden Years. May you rest in peace my friend.
