Marla was born on March 5, 1988 in San Salvador, El Salvador. Marla, her parents and younger sister came to the United States in 1993.
Marla attended Hastings High School and her love of learning did not stop there.
Marla received a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Houston. She was Fluent in Spanish, English and ASL. She was also part of the National Art Honor Society & became certified as an Landscape Licensed Irrigator.
Marla’s life demonstrated faith without words, her heart always hoped, trusted and confided in the Lord. She was used as an instrument by God for those who knew her to grow in faith.
Marla had a natural comfort, humor and wit with people and embraced everyone she met with the warmth of kind humanity.
Marla was very artistic and had a wide range of talents in pottery, glass blowing, sewing, painting, cooking cuisines of different cultures, baking, calligraphy, crochet, knitting and rock climbing.
Marla was extremely wise for her age and she would think of many ways of how to do things, such as changing the oil in her car, or she would help her dad with household projects, such as the flooring jobs.
Marla was a Renaissance woman and could conquer any challenge.
Marla is survived by her husband of 8 years, Jonathan Goodman; her parents, Maria Estela Hernandez and Elmer Antonio Hernandez; her siblings, Brenda Alvarez, Oswaldo Hernandez and Julio Hernandez; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Marla Sary Hernandez, de 33 años, falleció el domingo 16 de enero de 2022 rodeada por su familia.
Nació el 5 de marzo de 1988 en San Salvador, El Salvador. Marla, sus padres y hermana menor llegaron a los Estados Unidos en 1993.
Asistió a la escuela secundaria Hastings y su amor por el aprendizaje no se detuvo allí. Marla recibió una Licenciatura en Ciencias en Desarrollo Humano y Estudios Familiares en la Universidad de Houston. Hablaba español, inglés y lenguaje en señas con fluidez. Ella tambien fue parte de la asociación nacional de arte y recibió licencia en sistemas de irrigación.
La vida de Marla demostró Fe sin palabras, su corazón siempre esperó y confió en el Señor. Fue usada como instrumento por Dios para que aquellos que la conocían crecieran en la Fe.
Marla tenía una simpatia natural, humor e ingenio con las personas y abrazaba a todos los que conocía con calidez humana y bondad.
Marla era muy artística y tenía una amplia gama de talentos en cerámica, soplado de vidrio, costura, pintura, cocina de diferentes culturas, repostería, caligrafía, crochet, tejido de punto y le gustaba escalar en roca.
Marla era extremadamente sabia para su edad y pensaba en muchas maneras buenas de hacer las cosas. Cambiaba el aceite de su coche, y ayudaba a su padre con los proyectos del hogar, como los trabajos de piso. Era una mujer renacentista y podía conquistar cualquier desafio.
A Marla le sobreviven su esposo de 8 años, Jonathan Goodman; sus padres, María Estela Hernández y Elmer Antonio Hernández; sus hermanos, Brenda Alvarez, Oswaldo Hernandez y Julio Hernandez; y varios tios, tias y primos.
