Martha Eleanor (Knight) Mefford was born December 12, 1939, in Shreveport, LA. She left this world on May 22, 2024. Martha was raised in Carthage, TX where she met her lifelong love in 10th grade. She and this high school sweetheart, Clifton Mefford, built a beautiful life together raising their three children, Kristin, Steven and Kyle. Martha and Clif spent more than 60 years together, creating a home where there was always love and laughter and never a doubt that she was devoted to her family. She loved to fill the house with family and friends. She proudly put her heart into cooking from scratch; everything from whipped cream to ranch dressing was homemade. If anyone was struggling or having challenges, Martha was the first to drop off a breakfast casserole or poundcake. She was a devoted Christian throughout her entire life, serving her church and her community. She walked the walk in all that she did. Her heart was full when she was sharing her gifts of laughter, compassion, service, and of course the comfort that came from her kitchen.
Martha was completely at peace and contented through every stage of her life. From daughter and sister, to young wife, to busy mother, to devoted grandmother and great grandmother (Mar Mar), she cherished the simplest things in life and celebrated the everyday warmth of her family and friends. Her example is evident in the beautiful family she and Clif created who will miss her every day, but will rejoice in the knowledge that she is healthy, whole, and reunited with those who went before her in the arms of her Heavenly Father.
Martha is survived by her husband, Clif Mefford, her children Kristin Mefford Webster, Steven Mefford and Kyle Mefford and his wife Amy, her grandchildren Tyler Webster and his wife Michelle and daughter Charlotte, Kendall Webster Barker and her husband Jarett and children Ezra and Liam, Jake and Maddie Webster and Ethan and Emma Mefford. Martha is also survived by her sister-in-law, Ann Knight and the Knight family. Martha is preceded in death by her son-in-law, Steve Webster, and her loving parents and brothers.
We will celebrate Martha’s life on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Katy Funeral Home with a visitation at 10am, service at 11am, and a reception immediately following.
One of Martha’s favorite sayings was “If you gotta be blue, be a bright blue.” If you’re inclined, please join us in wearing some blue to celebrate her life.
