Patricia Jean Hopmann, age 69, passed away on December 16, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by devotion, compassion, and an enduring love for family, friends and animals.
Patricia was born September 18, 1956, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, but proudly considered herself a lifelong Texan, having moved to Texas before the first grade. Texas became her home and the place where she built her life, her family, and her passions.
She attended the University of Houston before choosing a path that reflected her true calling—working with animals. A lifelong animal enthusiast, she participated in and taught equestrian sports throughout her younger years and later after her children were grown found new joy competing in dog agility with her beloved border collie, Lottie.
Above all, Patricia was devoted to her family and friends, proudly driving the “mom bus” to multiple after-school activities for not only her own kids but multiple families’ children. Her love was steady, selfless, and unconditional. She will be remembered for the easy smile, quiet strength, and gentle spirit she showed to everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Mark Hopmann; her daughter, Kaitlin Hopmann; her sisters, Kathy Austin, Donna Hudson, and Renee Sherley; her mother-in-law, Daulene Hopmann; her brother-in-law, Don Hopmann; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Nicholas Hopmann; her parents, Gerald Katje and Ida Katje; and her father-in-law, Edward Hopmann.
Services will be held at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX, 77494 on Saturday, January 17th, 2026, Visitation 1-2pm, Memorial service 2-3pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Patricia’s honor to Take the Lead (takethelead.org), an organization that helps dog sports enthusiasts with life threatening illnesses.
Patricia’s legacy is one of love, devotion, and grace. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the lives of the animals she cared for so deeply.
