Phyllis Resendez Gutierrez

Phyllis Resendez Gutierrez, age 79, of Katy, Texas passed away on Sunday, November 6, 2022, with her family by her side. Phyllis was born in Houston, Texas, on June 21, 1943, to Guadalupe Resendez and Maclovia Cano Resendez.

Phyllis will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Tía, cousin, and friend to many. She resided in Houston, Texas, with her family and graduated from Reagan High School in 1961 which she attended with her Uncles. After graduation, Phyllis attended Sacred Heart Dominican College and graduated from the University of Houston. After she was married, she worked as a Geological Specialist for United Gas Pipeline and Amoco for the China group.

She, alongside her husband and two beautiful little girls moved to Katy, Texas, in 1979 where they continued to build their lives.

Phyllis was faithful in her devotion to her family, her friends, and her faith. She radiated love and kindness with a gentle spirit but had a strength that led her to achieve many accomplishments.

Phyllis was preceded in death by both of her parents; her brothers and her sister, Jesse, Amelia, and Daniel; and her husband, Raúl. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Leticia (Charles) and Cristina (José), of Katy, Texas; and five grandchildren, Araceli, Natalie, Alex, Brittany, and Zachry. She is also survived by her loyal Chihuahua, Callie.

A Memorial Mass will be held on November 15, 2022, at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Catholic Church in Katy, Texas. The Recitation of the Rosary begins at 10:30 a.m., the Memorial Mass begins at 11:00 a.m., and a reception will follow, from 12:45 p.m. - 2:45 p.m., at Katy Funeral Home at 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494.
