Raquel Marshall, age 39, passed away on August 20, 2025. She was born on October 7, 1985, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to Lucimar and João. She grew up alongside her brother, Rodrigo Dias, in a vibrant and close-knit family.
Raquel’s journey led her across the world when she met her husband, Corey, in 2013 during his visit to Rio. Their love story blossomed into a beautiful marriage that brought her to the United States in 2015, where she built a life filled with love, family, and purpose.
In 2022, Raquel became a licensed esthetician. While she was talented in her profession, her heart was never driven by income. Her true motivation was helping others feel confident and loved. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and valued. Beyond her work, Raquel was a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and a fiercely loyal friend.
Her compassion extended far beyond her home. She dedicated her life to serving others, giving generously of her time and spirit. Whether through food, clothing, medical supplies, warm blankets, or prayer, Raquel always sought to bring hope, dignity, and love to those who needed it most.
Raquel is survived by her husband, Corey; her children, Larissa, Isabelle, Matteo, and Luca; and her cherished bonus children, Chae, Mereille, Rae, Corrie, Wesley, Mikiya, and Kaden; her father, João; her brother, Rodrigo. She also leaves behind a large extended family in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and Chicago, IL who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucimar, in 2023, and her mother-in-law, Karen, in 2024.
Raquel’s legacy is one of faith, service, and unshakable love. Her warmth, generosity, and bold compassion will continue to inspire all who had the blessing of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her life’s impact cannot be measured. Every prayer she lifted, every meal she served, every life she touched continues to ripple into eternity.
Her family, friends, and community will forever carry her example in their hearts, striving to love others as fiercely as she did. Though her earthly journey has ended, her spirit lives on in the countless lives she transformed.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
