Raymond C. “Diz” Desadier, age 90, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2026 in Katy, Texas. Diz was born the youngest of six children in Clarence, Louisiana, where he would help his mother and siblings pick cotton in the sweltering summer sun. When his mother grew ill, the family moved to nearby Natchitoches, where he excelled on the high school baseball, basketball and gymnastics teams. He was considering going to Northwestern State University for gymnastics, and on a dare in his high school gymnastics class, he joined the cheerleading squad his Senior year.
Diz was in the National Guard for 2 years while in school and upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. After 20 years of service in Texas, Mississippi and Japan he retired on June 1, 1975 with the rank of Master Sergeant. Upon return from Japan, Diz and family settled in New Caney, Texas and then eventually in Houston. He worked for The Morgan Group for many years supervising the building and maintenance of apartment complexes before building a successful home repair/construction business. In 1993 he moved to what originally was the weekend family retreat in Colmesneil, Texas and eventually settled in Burkeville, Texas in 2010. Though he was small in stature, he was larger than life. An example of that was his time as a catcher in the service, he was a standout player with The Clansman, traveling between military bases as a player/coach. The word quickly got out to not try to steal a base on him. He was a lifelong hunter who loved the sound of hounds tightening the chase, he later devoted himself to trophy whitetail deer hunting, creating many friendships and assembling an impressive collection of mounts that his family will treasure forever.
Diz is survived by Lee Davies Desadier, his wife of 66 years, daughters Kathi-Jo Desadier Yager (Tim) and Eileen Desadier Svoboda (Darrell Ray), son Raymond Jules Desadier, granddaughter Kathileen Svoboda Nance (Randy), grandsons Darrell Svoboda (Sydney), David Svoboda (Katie), Timothy Yager, Jr. (Amy), Cody Desadier and Nolan Desadier, great grandchildren, Dylan Nance, Karlee Nance, Khloe Nance, Dusti Verron, Dru Svoboda, Dayton Svoboda, Baylor Svoboda, Briggs Svoboda, Claire Yager and Graham Yager, sister-in-law Minnie Louise "ML" Hicks Desadier and many nieces and nephews.
