

Rex Lim Uy, 68, of Phoenix, Arizona passed away peacefully on August 28, 2025, due to complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease. He passed a month short of what would have been his 69th birthday. He was born on September 29th, 1956, at the Chinese General Hospital in Manila, Philippines to Ramon Uy and Leonida Lim.
Rex attended Sienna College and Grace Christian High School and went on to study medicine at the University of Santo Tomas in the Philippines. He immigrated to the United States in 1983. Rex received an associate’s degree in Radiation Therapy from the University of Texas Medical Branch and MD Anderson Cancer Center. He worked in the field for 30 years until his retirement in 2021.
Rex was predeceased by his father, and brother Raymond Uy.
Rex is survived by his wife of 35 years Josephine Uy, son Matthew Uy, daughter Arielle Simons, son in law Chris Simons and grandson Miles Simons. He is also survived by his mother, stepfather Federico Caal, and sister Jean Uy.
Though a private man, Rex built enduring relationships with coworkers, colleagues, and the patients and families he cared for. He never forgot those whose lives he touched with his sense of humor and spirit of perseverance, and their strength and kindness shaped his own. He approached life with gratitude and love, finding his greatest joy in time spent with family.
Although Rex is gone, he will live on in our hearts forever.
General visitation will be held at Katy Funeral Home on October 28th at 10 am, followed by a Celebration of Life and catered reception. Inurnment will immediately follow at Forest Park Westheimer in Houston, Texas.
