Richard Albert Christoff

Richard Albert Christoff, 65, of Katy, Texas, passed away on Wednesday August 10th, 2016 at Methodist West Hospital. Richard was born in Cornwall, NY on August 17, 1950 to Albert Bernard Christoff and Gertrude Irene Rhinefield.

Shortly after graduating from Highland Falls High School, he joined the US Army. Richard served during Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Army Commendation Medal, honorably leaving the service on November 5th, 1971. Resident of Texas since 1977, he was a devout member of the NRA, American Legion and VFW. He was also a donor to multiple Veterans groups. He also enjoyed his local sports teams, the Houston Texans, Houston Astros and the Houston Rockets; he especially enjoyed watching NASCAR on Sunday afternoons. Richard was a friend to many who I am sure will miss his unique character.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Sandra Christoff. He was the loving and proud father of two sons, Chris Christoff and Drew Johnson, daughter in-law Kristie Johnson, and his beloved grandchildren Brooke and Declan Johnson, his brothers and sisters Michael & wife Linda, Robert & wife Linda, John & wife Maureen, Jim & wife Annie, and Albert Christoff, sisters Patricia Currey & husband Bob, Joan Whorley & husband Jim, Kay Weyer & husband Vincent plus many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister Virginia Elliott.

Services will be held at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd., Katy TX 77494. Celebration of life and Reception will begin at 1:00pm central time.
