Patricia (Pat) Berry at his side.
Mr. Berry was born July 31, 1946 in Houston to James and Florine Berry. Robert (Bob) was a long time
resident of Katy, Texas and graduated from the University of Houston in 1968 with a degree in Radio and
TV Broadcasting. Following graduation, he entered the United States Army as Photo Officer. Bob's
service found him in Vietnam and under the spraying of Agent Orange which caused the many medical
problems that he had to suffer following his discharge from the service. Following his service in the
Army he spent time as a Houston Police Officer in the Accident division and then as a Detective in the
Robbery division. As his family grew Bob found it necessary to find a better paying job thus ending up as
a Locomotive Engineer with Southern Pacific Railroad. Southern Pacific merged with Union Pacific
Railroad and so did Bob. After 30 years of service Bob retired from Union Pacific Railroad. During his
time in the Katy area Bob attended St Edith Stein Catholic Community. His retirement years, as his
health would allow, Bob joined the Veterans of Foreign Wars number 9182 and the Fort Bend County
Sheriffs Office You Are Not Alone Program.
Mr. Robert Berry was preceded in death by his parents; James and Florien Berry; in laws John and
Margaret Breiner; and 2 cousins. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Patricia (Pat)Berry of
Katy, Texas; daughter Catherine Berry —Rhoden DVM and husband Nicholas Rhoden of Katy, Texas; son
John Robert Berry of Katy, Texas; brother Ronald Berry and wife Julie of Houston, Texas, and a host of other cousins, family and friends.
Bob was an honorable officer, Husband, Father and Friend and he will be greatly missed by all who knew
him.
During Bob's many hospitalizations he had many wonderful doctors and nursing staff members and we
would like to take the opportunity to thank them for his great care. Also a big "Thank You" to Bob's
hospice team as well as the Personal Care Home people. They were great!
