A Celebration of Life will be held at Kingsland Baptist Church in the Fellowship Hall at 10:00 am October 18, 2025.
Bob was born on September 16, 1940 in Boise, Idaho. As a child he loved playing at Hyde Park with his friends. After graduation, Bob began his career in the printing industry. He was a independent hard-working man, never willing to retire. A perfect example of this amazing work ethic was when at 65 he applied for a job with HEB where he worked for 9 years in the seafood department. Bob won Employee of the Month for his incredible work ethic. In 1999, Bob suffered a stoke causing him to leave HEB and retire.
Bob loved bass fishing and was very proud of a 4 pound bass that he proudly displayed on his wall. Sadly, when cancer struck, he was forced to sell his boat and begin treatment. Bob also loved to refurbish old furniture; he could find any old piece and make it his masterpiece.
Bob met the love of his life Cathy Carlin at a dog club meeting in Lake Charles, LA and he knew he'd found his lifelong partner. He was quoted as saying, "I'm going to marry that girl". Three short months later, despite everyone's doubts, they began their 55 year journey together. Bob and Cathy had no children of their own, but considered Kelsey Rae Smigiel and Brandon Ballard their own.
Cathy would like to express her appreciation for the love, support, care and friendship of so many, but especially, Debbie Ballard, Dee Jehlen and Eric Hansen.
In Memory of Bob, you may donate to Kingsland Baptist Church in his honor.
