

One of five siblings, Bob was born in Mineola, Long Island, New York on October 10, 1942, to parents Robert Elmer Roeder and Millicent Louise Palmquist Roeder.
Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Carmen Rita Roeder, parents Robert and Millicent Roeder of Live Oak, Florida, brother Leslie Roeder of Kennewick, Washington, and sister Millicent 'Kip' Brewster of Boothbay Harbor, Maine.
Bob is survived by his brother Wayne Roeder of Anderson, South Carolina, and sister Margaret Webster of Lake City, Florida. Son David Roeder of Tomball, Texas. Daughter Heidi Teten and husband Karl Teten of San Francisco, California. Grandchildren Alyse Roeder, Aaron Roeder, and Andrew Roeder, of Houston, Texas.
In the early '50s Bob's family migrated south to Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Bob was a high school graduate of Fort Lauderdale High School, Fort Lauderdale, Florida class of 1960. During that same year, Bob was in a group of uncredited casting while filming beach scenes for the movie - Where The Boys Are.
Bob enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961. Bob served for three years as a member of the Naval Construction Battalion Seabees - CAN DO! SEMPER FORTIS - HOOYAH!
While stationed in Puerto Rico during Naval time in 1962, Bob met his future wife Carmen on a blind date. Bob fibbed to Carmen stating that he was older than she. They courted long distance for over a year before they married. It wasn't until the day of application for their marriage license when Carmen discovered Bob was actually four years younger than she. Their commitment to each other was too strong. Their marriage was meant to be. Bob and Carmen were married for 57 years until she passed.
Bob was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1964, Bob took up work in plumbing. Soon after Bob and Carmen married in 1964, they settled down in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and started a family. Son David arrived in May of 1966. Daughter Heidi arrived in May of 1971. The Roeder family resided in Fort Lauderdale, Florida until economic changes in mid '70s offered better opportunities for Bob and family in Texas.
The Roeder family migrated to Baytown, Texas in 1976. Bob became a pipefitter at the Baytown Exxon Refinery. Bob was a member of the Labor Union of Plumbing and Pipefitters. Bob worked as a pipefitter for a decade before economic changes arrived again in the mid '80s.
Bob returned back to school attending Lee College in Baytown, Texas. Bob graduated as an honored distinguished scholar from Lee College with a science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology in 1986. Bob then returned to work in a new and then upcoming career in modern electronics. Bob and Carmen built a brand-new home in Baytown, Texas in 1992. A highlight of Bob's electrical career was working in relation with NASA and the Mir Space Station. At age 65, Bob retired in 2007.
For many years Bob was a Deacon at The Church of New Beginnings (Memorial Assembly of God) in Baytown, Texas. He enjoyed controlling the P.A. live sound mix at church. Bob loved working with his hands. Bob was a member of Woodworkers of America. Bob spent much of his free time working in his wood shop building furniture, toys, and custom jewelry boxes for family members.
Bob loved raising his Dachshund hounds Oscar and Lucy. Bob was quick witted and loved a good joke. He was an avid enthusiast of steam locomotive trains. Bob was also known to play banjo. Bob loved a good New York Italian style lasagna with extra-extra parmesan cheese.
The legacy Bob leaves behind is one of lifelong achievements through a 'Can Do' attitude via learning, teaching, kindness to others, and the pursuit of joy in all simple things. His passion was evident in anything he made with his hands, every lasagna eaten, every lesson taught, and every story told.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd. Katy, Texas, 77494 on Thursday May 21, 2026. Visitation: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM. Service: 11:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Departure to the V.A. Cemetery at 12:50 PM.
Graveside burial service will be with military veteran honors at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77038 at 2:00 PM.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who supported Bob during his stay at Villa at Willow Colony rest home in Katy, Texas - especially those who gave direct help giving Bob the best of hope and care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks those that wish to honor Bob's life to donate to the Alzheimer's Association.
