Shirley is survived by her children: Amanda Bower of Olney, IL; Donald Mosher of Houston, Texas; Scott Mosher of Katy, Texas; and Erik Mosher of Katy, Texas. Shirley was blessed with 10 grandchildren that she loved to watch grow up. Shirley is also survived by her siblings: Tom Burnett, Jim Burnett, June Pettigrew, Jimmy Burnett, Nikki Burnett, and Faye Bounds. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Maud Burnett and Lt. Col. James R. Burnett (retired.)
Shirley was a member of the West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department from the 1980’s through the 1990’s. Shirley often told her children that one of the best parts of her job was teaching fire safety to the children at local elementary schools. Shirley served as an EMT with West Harris County EMS.
Shirley spent her days enjoying time with family. Visits to the nursing home, lunches on the town and visiting on the phone. Her family brought her a great deal of comfort, joy and entertainment. Shirley never met a dog that she didn’t like and would go out of her way to pet any that she would meet during her travels.
The family would like to thank the staff and doctors at Sterling Oaks Rehabilitation Center for their kind, loving care of Shirley for the last years of her life. At the nursing home, Shirley enjoyed her numerous visits with Ginny Burnett as they relived the past. The family would also like to recognize the outstanding medical care that Shirley received from the staff at Methodist Hospital in Katy, TX.
A streamed service will be on Thursday, January 21 at 4pm through Katy Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Shirley would want you to express your love to those you care for by taking them out for ice cream and enjoying your time together.
