

Teddy met the love of her life, Johnny L. Gavrel, in San Francisco at the Stage Door Canteen, and they were married September 22, 1946 in San Francisco, CA. She moved to Houston, Texas after marrying Johnny and raised their four children there.
Teddy was passionate about her faith, her family, her crafts and watching sports. She loved the beach, seashells, lighthouses, crocheting and generally any kind of crafts. She had a very kind heart and a quick wit. Teddy was the long time receptionist for Mayor Jim McConn & Mayor Kathy Whitmire.
Teddy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Johnny Gavrel; son, Louis John Gavrel; daughter, Paula Gavrel Asher; son, Timothy John Gavrel and granddaughter, Penelope Gavrel Nygren, as well as her parents; sister, Anastasia Jouganatos and brother, Thomas Tjovenos.
She is survived by her son, Pete Gavrel and wife Cheryl, daughter-in-law, Deeann Gavrel; grandchildren, Christina Costa and husband Fred John Gavrel and wife Beth, Shelley Fassett & fiancé Joel Dunne, Johnnie Mae Cantwell and husband Jonathan, Chris Gavrel and wife Tara, Johnny Gavrel and wife Melanie, Paula Humphrey and husband Ashton, and Tommy Gavrel and fiancé Cassie McCartney; her great grandchildren, Nicholas Costa, Olivia Nygren, Karley Jo Janser, Ava Grace Cantwell, Caleb Cantwell, Penn Gavrel, Ella Gavrel, Jaxson Humphrey and Kaydee Mae Gavrel, who will be joining us in October.
She is also survived by her godchildren, Johnny Papantonakis, Maria Botti and Billie Cisneros. In addition, she is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons John Gavrel, Chris Gavrel, Johnny Gavrel, Tommy Gavrel, Jonathan Cantwell, Fred Costa, Ashton Humprhey & great-grandson Nicholas Costa.
In lieu of flowers, donations maybe be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral or Cure Rare Disease.
