Robert “Vito” Cristobal arrived in this world blessing his parents, Robert Mario and Rita Graciela Cristobal, with a love they never expected. The family of three, as they knew it, grew to four on September 15, 1989. Vito’s big brown eyes and head full of hair not only captured the hearts of his parents, but also his sister, Kathy, who immediately knew he would be her best friend whether he liked it or not. After several years of being the only son, Vito had his opportunity to be a big brother to Daniel. He dedicated much of his free time teaching him all there is to know about the importance of education, loyalty, and the value of true friendship.
In 2015, Vito unknowingly began the next chapter of his life when he met Crystal Truong. Together, they hiked across Texas and beyond, stopping only long enough to camp with their two dogs, Rocky and Lana. As their relationship grew, so did their desire to explore the world. Their travels took them not only across America, but abroad to the Philippines, Belize, and Budapest. In 2019, Vito knew who he wanted to spend the rest of his days with and proposed to Crystal in Munich. She, of course, ecstatically replied yes making him the happiest person alive and her feeling like the luckiest gal. In early May 2022, their pursuit of adventure and love of travel brought Vito and Crystal to Lima, Peru where they were married in the company of their family and close friends. In true Vito style, he lit up the room with his infectious smile and constant laughter which left us all with tons of photos of his eyes closed.
With his roots deeply planted in Houston since birth, Vito graduated from Cinco Ranch High School and the University of Houston where he completed his degree in Business Administration in 2017. When he was not spending time with family, Vito could be found among friends enjoying craft breweries, attending concerts/music festivals, or gaining new life experiences. If there is one thing that we can share about Vito, it is his willingness to lend a hand and the impact that bright smile of his had on those blessed enough to be on the receiving end.
Vito is survived by his wife, Crystal; parents, Robert and Rita; sister, Kathy; brother, Danny; aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bertha Doumenz de Cristobal, Claudio Cristobal Evangelista, Aurora Lantaron de Linares and Reynaldo Linares Pisco.
A visitation for Vito will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, Texas 77494. Vito’s life will be honored at a funeral service on Saturday, May 28, 2022 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM followed by a graveside service on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Forest Park Southwest Cemetery, 9040 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406.
