Willa was married to the love of her life, Neal MacNabb, for 52 wonderful years until his passing in May 2025. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventures—including a cherished family trip to Hawaii and living in more than six different states. “Not too bad for two kids from Nebraska,” she would say.
A dedicated educator, Willa spent her career shaping young minds as an elementary school teacher. She poured her heart into every classroom she led and formed lifelong friendships with her fellow educators at Nottingham Country Elementary in Katy ISD. Her passion for teaching and love for her students left a lasting impact.
In retirement, Willa embraced life fully. She became an enthusiastic member of her local YMCA Zumba class and took great joy in being involved with her faith community at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Katy, where she played an active role in the Stephen Ministry.
Above all, Willa’s greatest joy came from being “Mimi” to her grandsons. She delighted in cheering them on at sporting events, building Lego creations together, and showering them with love every chance she got.
Willa is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Neal. She is survived by her daughter, Whitney Padilla, son-in-law, Brenden, treasured grandsons, Bennett and Brady Padilla as well as numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. We take comfort in knowing she is reunited with Neal and at peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stephen Ministry program at St. Peter’s United Methodist Church in Katy.
