Lucille Ira Stovall
October 26, 1922 – February 25, 2018
Lucille Stovall, age 95, went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, February 25, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. Lucille was born October 26, 1922 in Matagorda, Texas to George E. and Robina (Putman) Shamblee. She loved doing things around the house, spending time working in the yard, fishing and cooking. Anything Lucille cooked was delicious, but the most notable was her red beans and cornbread and chocolate pie. She was a remarkable seamstress, sewing beautiful clothes for her family. Lucille loved doing arts and crafts while working with the children at the Mother’s Day Out program at Kessler Park United Methodist Church. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Preceding Lucille in death were her parents; husband, Clyde Stovall; sisters, Judy and Inez; and brothers, Jimmy and Jessie. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jeanette Abernathy (Dare Hawkins) and Phyllis Griffin (Dale Coker); granddaughters, Michelle Thomas (Tony) and Amy Sweeney (James); great grandchildren, Thomas, Jackson and Lori Sweeney and Carlie, Abbie and Jacob Thomas; numerous other nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Visitation will be held Friday, March 2, 2018 from 12pm to 1:30pm at the Anderson Clayton Bros. Funeral Home, 305 N. Jackson, Kaufman, Texas. Graveside services will be held at 2pm Friday, March 2, 2018 at College Mound Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations in Lucille’s memory can be made to Hospice Plus, 3100 McKinnon St., Suite 200, Dallas, Texas 75201. The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses, staff and chaplain with Hospice Plus for providing such loving and personal care for Lucille.
