
She was born in Keene, on May 5, 1929, the daughter of Walter and Gladys (Sheldon) Rollins. She attended Marlborough area elementary and secondary schools as well as Marlborough High School, graduating in 1948.
She married Arthur Joseph Sharkey, Sr. in a ceremony held in Keene on March 4, 1955. They celebrated 35 years of marriage before his death in 1990.
She worked for many years at the Keene Sentinel, both in the Circulation Department as well as performing a delivery route for over 20 years.
She was a member of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, a former member of the Westmoreland VFW as well as a one time member of the Keene Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 1413.
She enjoyed working with her hands, doing ceramics as well as knitting. She was a collector of Teddy Bears as well as Rooster figurines. She and Arthur spent time travelling to Lake George, NY as well as down to Florida and made many friends along the way. Mostly, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter: Linda Gordon and her significant other, Dennis Rhoades, Jr., of Keene; two sons: Steven A. Sharkey and his wife Amy of Gilsum and Kenneth W. Sharkey of Keene; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren as well as a nephew. She was predeceased by her husband: Arthur J. Sharkey and a brother: Sid Rollins.
At Alice’s request, there will be no Public Calling Hours, or formal services. However, the family invites family and friends, to their home at 850 Marlboro Rd, Keene, on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 10:00 until 1:00 for a time of remembrance and sharing of laughter and stories.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made, in Mrs. Alice C. Sharkey’s name, to the Home Healthcare Hospice & Community Services (www.hcsservices.org), 312 Marlboro St, Keene, NH 03431.
