Alyce Constance Whitney
May 9, 1935 – April 7, 2018
Alyce C. Whitney, 82, of Genesis of Keene and formerly of Marlborough, passed away suddenly after a brief illness at Cheshire Medical Center on April 7, 2018.
She was born May 9, 1935 in Marlborough, NH, the daughter of William and Grace (Benedick) Mattson. She attended area schools graduating from Marlborough High School in 1953. She then went on to study at Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Worcester, MA, where she completed her Nursing Degree in 1956.
Throughout her nursing career, Alyce worked at Memorial Hospital, Worcester, MA, Elliot Memorial Hospital, Keene, NH, Stanton Community Hospital, CA, the Keene Clinic, Keene, NH, and private practice offices in Venice, FL, before retiring and moving back to Marlborough in 2000.
Alyce will be lovingly remembered for her selfless nature – always willing to help out and look after others. Her family and patients were truly at the heart of everything Alyce did.
Alyce will be dearly missed by her devoted husband of over 31 years: Maurice F. Whitney of Keene; children: Bonnie diBiccari and her husband Albert of Marlborough and Ricky Delisle and his wife Diane of Westmoreland; grandchildren: Jeremy Delisle and his wife Amy of Antrim, Jennifer Delisle of Keene, Elizabeth Delisle of Westmoreland, Lauren diBiccari of Marlborough, Janel diBiccari of Brooklyn, NY, and Joseph diBiccari of Marlborough; great-grandchildren: Annabelle and Griffin; first husband and father of her children: Robert Delisle, Jr. of Marlborough; as well as several dear friends.
She was predeceased by her step-children: Michelle Whitney, Mathew Whitney, and Mark Whitney.
A funeral service to celebrate Alyce’s life will be held on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 10:00 am at Fletcher Funeral Home, 33 Marlboro Street, Keene, NH. Burial will follow at the family plot at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Ave, Keene, NH.
