

Ann was born Ann Frances Horrigan in 1921 and grew up in Arlington, Mass. She attended Regis College and graduated with a degree in Education. Ann became a High School English teacher, teaching for many years at Arlington High School, where she was a favorite of many students.
She met her husband Robert Sykes (who passed away in 2004) in 1951 and they were married for more than 60 years. Ann was a lover of horses and horseback riding. She belonged to many equine organizations in Sudbury, Mass. and could often be found riding along local trails with friends.
Ann lived a long and happy life, having lived in Arlington, Sudbury, Harvard and Littleton, Mass., plus Brookline, New Hampshire and (most recently) Keene. She touched many people’s lives over the years and will be remembered fondly for her upbeat attitude, her gracious smile, quick wit, and her saying that everything in her life was just “ducky."
Ann leaves behind three children: Donald, his wife Theresa (Terry) Sykes and their children, Christopher (29) and Heather (26) of Keene; Karen Koepnick Sykes and her children Katie (25) and Michael (24) of Florida; and Edward (Ted) Sykes, his wife Jackie Angcao Sykes and their children, Cameron (15) and Spencer (13) of Colorado Springs.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard’s Church, 185 Main Street, Keene, NH on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Main Street, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene on Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions be made in Ann’s memory to the American Diabetes Association of New England, 10 Spain Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, MA 01701.
