

She was born, in Keene, on July 20, 1920, the daughter of Elmo D. and Bertha (Davis) Starkey. She attended elementary school in Roxbury. She later went on to graduate with the Class of 1937 from Keene High School. She received her Bachelors in Teaching from Keene Teachers College in 1941.
On August 3, 1942, she married Roger K. Rich. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing in 2000.
She taught Elementary school in Lyme, NH for 30 years before moving to Florida in 1971. While in Florida, she taught in the Hampton, FL school district for another 10 years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lyme Center for over 50 years. She was also a member of the Lyme Center Ladies Aid. After her move to Florida, she became a member of the Melrose, FL Women’s Club.
She enjoyed travelling, having visited Alaska, Hawaii, the Caribbean, Australia and parts of Europe.
She is survived by her sister: Beatrice Boufford and her husband Arthur of N. Swanzey, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband: Roger K. Rich; her siblings: Harold Starkey, Clare Starkey, Roger Starkey, Ethelyn Oros and Phyllis Howard.
Per Arlene’s request, there are no public services or calling hours. She will be buried at a later date in the family plot in Lyme Center, NH.
