Barbara J. Silver

February 29, 1936March 16, 2019

The hardworking hands of the gentle soul of Barbara J. Silver 83, of Westmorland, NH and formerly of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully, surrounded in the love of her family, at the Cheshire Medical Center / Dartmouth Hitchcock, Keene.

Her parents, Edith (Weir) and Ernest H. Silver, Sr., welcomed their daughter, the youngest of seven children, into the world on February 29, 1936 in Bellows Falls, VT. She grew up in Keene attending local schools.

Barbara worked at the Cheshire Medical Center and with People’s Linen for many years. She enjoyed playing bingo; breakfasts at Lindy’s Diner; and spending time with her family. Barbara especially enjoyed attending the Cheshire Fair to watch her grandchildren in the pig scramble, and to listen to the country music bands. She was also a loyal Red Sox fan.

She will be greatly missed by many, especially her daughter, Brenda L. Howard and her husband, Larry, of Stoddard, NH; four grandchildren, Heather, Shasta, Larry and Jodi; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; and a brother.

Barbara spent the last few years of her life at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Westmoreland, of which, her family is most grateful for the wonderful care that she received from the dedicated and loving staff there.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10:00AM in the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. Burial will follow in the Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue, Keene. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 4:00 to 6:00PM.

Barbara was an amazing lady, her family always came first. I remember her always walking everywhere and when baseball season started she would be sure to hurry home to catch the game. She had a great sense of humor. Very hard worker and always with a smile.
God Bless
