

Age 94, of Langdon Place of Keene, NH, peacefully entered into eternal life to join her husband, Marshall, on June 13, 2015. She was born on February 25, 1921 in Madrid, NY to the late James and Eva (Markell) Cryderman. Mrs. Barrett’s mother remarried in 1928 and they moved to Westmoreland, NH when Mrs. Barrett was 7 years old. She attended school in Westmoreland through 8th grade and graduated from Keene High School in 1939. During her school years, she was active in the 4-H Club and worked as a life guard at summer camp.
On her 19th birthday on February 25, 1940, she married the love of her life, Marshall J. Barrett, Sr. After her youngest child entered first grade, Mrs. Barrett began working in the Produce Department of the First National Store in Keene. She continued to work there for 28 years and retired as manager of the Produce Department in 1982.
Mr. and Mrs. Barrett remained sweethearts and loving partners for 71 and one-half years. Together they traveled to all 50 states and eight countries. Following their retirement in 1982, the couple spent 17 years living in central Florida enjoying golf, swimming, biking and entertaining the many family and friends who visited. They also volunteered at area nursing homes. They moved back to Keene in 1999 to be closer to family.
Earlier in life, Mrs. Barrett was active in the Rebekah Organization. She was an accomplished quilt maker, gardener, and enjoyed playing cribbage, bridge and canasta. After moving to Langdon Place of Keene, she became a member of the Welcoming Committee and regularly participated in social and craft activities.
Survivors include her children: Linda B. Kaufman of Horseheads, NY and Marshall J. Barrett, Jr. and his wife, Bonnie, of Georges Mills, NH; six grandchildren: Steve Davis, Scott (Jennifer) Davis, Eric (Kelly) Kaufman, Joanne Kaufman, Christopher (Nicole) Barrett and Jonathan Barrett; and three great-grandchildren: Sierra Davis, Shayla Davis and Savannah Clayton. She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall, in 2011, her oldest daughter, Sandra Metivier, in 2007 and her son-in-law, Murray Kaufman, in 2013.
It was Mrs. Barrett’s wishes that there be no calling hours or funeral service. Burial and private graveside services will take place at the convenience of the family.
