

She was born in Lynn, Mass., November 25, 1925, the daughter of Eugene S. and Josie (Hall) Closson.
Mrs. Skillings grew up in Belfast, Maine. She later resided for many years in Milford, Conn., where she worked as a cashier in the cafeteria of Waterman Bic Company of Milford and also as a nurses’ aid in Milford. She taught Sunday school for 8 years at the Grace Baptist Church and the Assembly of God Church, both in Milford. She later lived in Winchester for eight years, moving to Orange, Texas where she resided for ten years before returning to Winchester.
She enjoyed gardening and flowers of all kinds. She loved to tap dance, sing, and play the organ. She especially enjoyed reading her bible.
She is survived by a daughter, Brenda J. Stevens and her husband, Bob, of Winchester, a son, Gary L. Skillings and his wife, Darcy, of Peterborough, NH, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her husband of 47 years, Vaughn L. Skillings, whom she married on September 5, 1945, died in 1992. A son, Vaughn S. “Toby” Skillings, died in 2003.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 10, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Evergreen Cemetery, Richmond Road, Winchester, NH. Rev. Dennis DeLine, Pastor of the Assembly of God Church in Winchester, will officiate. There are no public calling hours.
The Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene, NH is assisting the family with the arrangements.
