

Beverly M. (Conboy) Smith, 89, a resident of Keene, NH and former resident of West Swanzey, NH., passed away peacefully at the Applewood Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winchester, NH, on Friday, April 03, 2015, following a brief period of declining health.
She was born August 29, 1925, in West Swanzey, NH, the daughter of George E. and Helena M. (Greenleaf) Conboy. She was a 1943 graduate of Keene High School. On September 16, 1944 she married the love of her life: Louis A. Smith.
Throughout her life she was involved in the community as a member of the Parish of the Holy Spirit and attendee of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in West Swanzey and later at St. Bernard Church in Keene, and also as a member of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution. She was a devoted “Mom”, “Grammy” and “Grammy Great”, and loved spending time with her family, especially during the Holidays and for Sunday dinners. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, bowling at Yankee Lanes and working crossword puzzles.
She is survived by two daughters: Helena M Wilbur and her husband Willie of North Swaney, NH and Diane Matson and her husband Timothy, Sr., of Keene, NH., five grandchildren: Edward Matson, III, Heather Fish and her husband Arnold Jr., Timothy Matson, Jr., Kara Matson and her companion, Daniel Castor and Colleen Ross, seven great-grandchildren: Arnold, III, Marlena, Chandler, Timothy, III, Jax, Shelby and Kristen, and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. She is also survived by the family of her Companion of 14 years, Richard O’Neil who passed away on March 7, 2008: Kathleen O’Neil, Millie Kootman and her husband Marc and Richie, Jr. and his wife Kathy and their families. She is predeceased by her husband, Louis, who paased away on September 15, 1990, her companion: Richard O’Neil, her daughter: Carol Ann who passed at birth, two sisters: Zilpha Little and Josephine Bennett and her brother: Lawrence “John” Conboy. She is also survived by her beloved cat, Jonah: He brought her many moments of enjoyment and laughter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernard Church 185 Main Street, Keene, NH on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at 10:00am. Per Mrs. Smith’s wishes, there will be no public calling hours. Burial will be held at a later time in the Mountain View Cemetery in Swanzey, NH, and will be announced as the date draws closer.
