He was born September 25, 1947 the son of Milton and Doris (Rivers) Wheeler. He proudly served our Nation as a member of the United States Navy. He worked for many businesses across the Monadnock Region including People’s Linen and Port-O-Lite.
Cary was a member of the American Legion, the Italian Club and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. He was very proud to have served as the Local President of the Keene Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #1413, and also of the New Hampshire Fraternal Order of Eagles Aeries as State President, which he held in conjunction with his sister, Bonnie, as New Hampshire Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary as State President.
Music was a big part of Cary’s life, especially in his youth when he was a member of his own band, known as “Up-Country”. At the age of nine he appeared on the Clyde and Willie Mae Joy Show on WMUR, Channel 9. He also enjoyed singing karaoke.
Cary also enjoyed riding motorcycles. In his youth he raced them, as well, and even raced in Daytona. He also enjoyed being with his friends, enjoying a game of pool or being outdoors, fishing or hunting. Also, Cary loved to dance and while hunting, fishing or anything he did he was always standing. He also liked making friends with squirrels and chipmunks and always carried peanuts in his pockets for them.
He is survived by his wife, Lauren Wheeler of Swanzey; his son, Timothy J. Wheeler; his daughter, Crystal Wheeler; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brothers, Milton “Skip” Wheeler, Jr. and Kevin B. Wheeler; sisters, Gayle Willis and her husband Floyd and Bonnie Karson and her husband Larry, Jr. and several nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is predeceased by his parents and his son, Cary M. Wheeler, Jr.
A Celebration of Cary’s Life will be held at the Keene Fraternal Order of the Eagle’s #1413, 115 Church St. Keene, NH on March 16th, 2019 from 1pm to 3pm. A graveside service will be held later this summer, in the Mountain View Cemetery, Old Homestead Hwy, Swanzey, NH., and will be announced as the date draws closer.
