Chuck was born on October 6, 1952, in Erie, Pennsylvania, to June Coburn Mobilia and Joseph John Mobilia. After moving to Findley Lake, New York, Chuck attended junior high and high school, excelling in both sports and academics.
He continued his education at Lycoming College after being awarded an academic scholarship, earning a B.S. in Math in 1974. Chuck went on to build a successful career in information technology, working at A.D Little, Wang, and DEC, as a software developer. Prior to his retirement, Chuck spent over 25 years at Keene State College, working as a systems and security administrator. He was an ever-present fan of KSC basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and, of course, his beloved soccer.
Chuck had an undeniable passion for music, whether it was listening to it, singing along, or playing the piano or drums. He loved driving on a warm summer day, music blaring, tapping along on the steering wheel. A natural drummer, he entertained Keene and the surrounding community as the drummer of Version 6 and The Boom Box Band, and still used the iridescent, blue drum kit from his high school band Aqueous Digit. Through a contagious joy for music that enveloped all who surrounded him, he built a vast extended family that included his band mates and their families.
Chuck was compassionate, generous, and humble. He never demanded or required a spotlight, for if it was the right thing to do, he was already doing it. He served the community in numerous ways - as coach of many youth teams, as a soccer referee, as classroom aid at Fuller School, and especially through his volunteer work. He began as a volunteer at Hundred Nights homeless shelter, where he eventually served as the Chair of the Board of Directors. He was a fierce advocate, promoting the respect and dignity of all members of the community, regardless of means or housing status. The individuals who have benefited from his support and commitment to this cause are endless.
He cherished the times spent with his “amore mio,” Teresa, and became a beloved member of her loving family, forming a special bond with nephew D.J. Her immense capacity for kindness and selflessness were an equal match for his, and her extroverted personality truly brought out the best in him. Whether it be volunteering, traveling, trying new recipes, or riding alongside Teresa during her many races, his heart was full and he was truly happy with her by his side. A beautiful pair admired by all.
Chuck’s pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. He was an integral part of their lives, helping them flourish and build lives and families of their own. Endlessly supportive, he accepted every decision they made, even if he disagreed, and was always there to celebrate their triumphs or pick up the pieces. He was always their first call, willing to drop anything and everything at a moment's notice.
His profound and enduring love for his granddaughters was evident in every moment he spent with them. From their first smiles, initial steps, and early words, to the middle school dance and high school graduation, no milestone was considered too small. You will never meet a prouder Grandpa.
The lives he has touched and the impact he had on those lives is immeasurable. A beautiful soul was lost far too soon, but his light will undoubtedly keep shining through the ones who love him.
Chuck is survived by his partner, Teresa Starkey, as well as his two children: daughter Laura M. Wittenauer and her husband Edward of Mason, New Hampshire; and son Kellen C. Mobilia and his wife Marissa of Livermore, California. He is also lovingly remembered by his two granddaughters, Caitlyn Mya Wittenauer of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Emmalyn Jeri Mobilia of Livermore, California. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Ruth Heath, and her husband Greg, along with two nephews, Christopher C. Heath of Canterbury, New Hampshire, and Jesse M. Heath of Concord, New Hampshire.
