Christopher J. Young passed unexpectedly but peacefully from this life to next on August 14, 2018 at his home, in Troy, NH. He was the husband of the love of his life and best friend, Linda Tetreault Young for 36 years. He was the proud father of Neil P. Young for whom he still holds a very special place in his heart.
Chris was born in Buffalo, NY on June 20, 1949. He was the son of the late Clarence and Agnes (Geisel) Young. He was one of seven siblings. He is survived by Joseph P. Young and his wife Betty, Mary C. Young, Henry P. Young and his wife Marje, Anne M. Young, and Claire M. Young. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth A. Young Whipple and her husband Arthur. He was the uncle of Jessica Page of Germany and great-uncle to her children Aiden, Alexander, and Bettina and numerous nephews and nieces in the Tetreault family.
Chris was a longtime communicant of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Keene. In his youth he served as an altar boy. He attended local schools graduating from Keene High School in 1967. He also took environmental classes at Keene State College.
Chris was employed by Joe Maliska Drywall for many years and later Mark Blanchard Fineline Drywall. Before his retirement he was managing operations at the Garden Island Laundromat with his son Neil.
Chris was a life time member of the Eagles’ Aerie 1413 in Keene where he met and kept lifelong friends. Chris was an avid and eclectic reader who enjoyed Trivia Night at Scores in Keene taking home another prize on Monday night. He was an enthusiastic follower of the Keene Swamp Bats and the Red Sox attending many games with his family.
He most enjoyed the time he spent with Linda and Neil and the Tetreault and Young families. Chris, Linda and Neil spent many a 4th of July at “the Beach House” in Matunuck, RI. Chris and Neil always participated in, and later led, the Pots and Pans Parade after the passing of their veteran friend Gerry Fitta. Though not a veteran himself, Chris proudly carried and honored the lead American flag as well all veterans.
He had just returned from the 29th Annual Geisel Family Reunion on Seneca Lake, NY which he so looked forward to each year for the wonderful re-connections with his mother’s extended family.
He was a good and faithful friend to many with an open hand and a generous heart. He was also a good and faithful servant of his God who now welcomes him home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1pm at St. Bernard Church, 185 Main St. Keene, NH. Burial will be private. Family and friends are invited to call on the family on Friday, August 17th from 5 to 7pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court St. Keene, NH.
