He was born on March 30, 1942, in Claremont, NH, to Helen B (Harriman) Willett, and Cedric L. Willett. Clovis was the second of four children and a 1961 graduate of Keene High School.
On June 19, 1965, Clovis exchanged vows with Judith Gaillardetz at the Court Street Congregational Church in Keene. They were happily married for 58 years until Judith’s passing on September 15, 2023. Together, they raised four children and built a life centered on family, commitment, and love.
Clovis worked at the American Optical (AO) Plant in Keene for 30 years, until its closure in 1982. He then purchased AO’s Optical Instruments and Lenses Division and founded Twin State Optical Inc., where he continued his craft until retiring in 2009.
Beyond his professional career, he found joy in spending time with Judith in their greenhouse, having long conversations with friends, and dedicating countless hours to projects in and around their home.
Clovis is survived by his four children, Kevin Willett and wife Joanne of Revere, MA, Kenny Willett and his wife Amanda of Peterborough, NH, Kelly Willett and his wife Marcine of Walpole, NH, Kristen Belanger and her husband Mark of Hampton, NH. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandsons: Zachary, Kevin Jr., Hudson, Ryan, Willem, Foster, Porter, Ledger, and Max. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his beloved wife Judith, and his three siblings: Joyce Pratt, Patricia Guillet, and Donald Willett.
In keeping with Clovis’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Instead, we invite all who knew and loved him to join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 30, from 12:00 to 3:00 PM at The Pub Restaurant in Keene, NH. This gathering is an opportunity to share memories, stories, and laughter in honor of a life well lived. A private burial will take place earlier that morning.
Flowers are welcome and appreciated. For those who prefer, memorial contributions may be made in Clovis’s name to Home Healthcare, Hospice & Community Services, the organization that provided compassionate and critical end-of-life care to both Clovis and his beloved wife. Donations may be made online at https://www.hcsservices.org/donate/ or mailed to Hospice of HCS, PO Box 564, Keene, NH 03431.
