He was born in Wellesley, MA on April 14, 1973, the son of Stephen and Geraldine (Rossetti) Horgan. He resided in Roslindale, MA at an early age, settling in
Keene when he entered the 8th grade. Damien was a 1991 graduate of Keene High School.
Following graduation, he enlisted in the Marine Corp, serving for eight years, earning the rank of Sergeant.
Known for having one of the area’s most outgoing personalities, Damien’s life always centered on his many friends and the friendships he received in return. His personality and magnetism were catching to all those whom he met. He was a highly intelligent man, yet so down to earth to those who know him well.
Damien was a huge advocate of anti-cruelty to animals. He loved his dogs, Rocky and Tucker, with whom he would take many a long walk with on a daily basis. He was also an avid New England sports team fan.
He will be remembered by many as a great human being, especially to Stephanie, his best friend in life, and her boys, with whom he cared for as if they were his own, shaping their world, helping to share in the responsibilities of ensuring they were developing into well-rounded young men. He enjoyed his roles as their “home dad”, making sure they were ready for the day’s adventures, be it going off to school each day, or fun adventures on the weekends.
He will be greatly missed by his father, Stephen, and his wife, Nancy, of Scarborough, ME; his siblings, Andrew Horgan of Brighton, MA, Katrina Horgan of Scarborough, Aly Lathrop of Mass.; his paternal aunts and uncles, Joan and Robert Manning of Foxboro, MA, Dorothy Riley of Tucson, AZ, Rita Freeman of Venice, FL, Dr. Kevin Fallon and his wife, Judith, of Delaware; his maternal aunt and uncle, John and Mary Rossetti, of Harwich, MA; his best friend in life, Stephanie Singer and her three boys, Noah, Ian, and Isaac, all of Keene; and Stephanie’s family, David and Holly Chamberlin of Swanzey, NH, David and Kristen Chamberlin of Westmoreland, NH, Lena Chamberlin of Swanzey, Griz and Penny Baribeau of Keene; and many cousins.
A celebration of Damien’s life will be held at later date.
For those who wish, donations may be made in Damien’s memory to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 West Swanzey Road, West Swanzey, NH 03446.
