His parents, David F. and Marcia A. (Alexander) Parody welcomed their son into the world on August 10, 1963, in Westfield, MA. He grew up in Keene and was a 1981 graduate of Keene High School and later attended Plymouth State College.
David was co-owner of the family business, New England Fabrics, for over forty years. He spent the majority of time there managing the upholstery, window blind and home decorating departments helping customers with their projects. In that time, he fostered longtime relationships with his many customers and was always ready to help them with his knowledge and expertise. David was on a first name basis with many customers and always treated them as family and friends.
During most of his adult life, David, always seeking adventure, was an avid skydiver. A member of the United States Parachuting Association: David amassed over 5000 freefall skydives, along with teaching skydiving, giving tandem jumps and participating in skydiving competitions all over the country. David always seemed to enjoy making life interesting, with friends warmly commenting that Dave was "one of a kind". He also enjoyed skiing and playing golf.
Although skydiving was one of Dave's passions, what most people will remember about him was his easy-going nature and ability to connect with people. Dave's willingness to help his friends and to be there in their time of need will long be remembered by many. Dave was selfless in his daily life, always thinking of and being there for his friends.
He will be greatly missed by many, especially his mother, Marcia Parody of Keene; his brother, Ron Parodi and his wife, Kaitlyn Taft, of Keene; his nephews and niece, Connor Parodi of Portland, OR, Griffin Parodi of Portsmouth, NH, and Eli Parodi of Keene. His father predeceased him on November 23, 2017.
A celebration of David’s life will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00pm at the Foley Funeral Home, 49 Court Street, Keene. All are welcome to attend.
For those who wish, donations may be made in David’s memory to one’s favorite charity or please do a good deed to others in his memory.
